Industrial Flooring in London

Industrial floors in London rarely sit in open, easy-access sheds. Most of the work we do inside the M25 is in railway arches, multi-storey light industrial estates, basement plant rooms and last-mile delivery units squeezed onto tight urban sites. That changes the specification as much as the logistics: floor build-ups have to work over older, thinner slabs, preparation has to be near dust-free in occupied buildings, and materials often have to be carried in by hand or lifted rather than delivered by pallet to the workface.

We use captive-shrouded diamond grinders on vacuum extraction as standard, which keeps preparation dust contained and allows us to work above and below tenanted floors. Where slabs are damp or were laid without a damp-proof membrane — very common in pre-1970s London industrial stock — we test moisture first and install an epoxy damp-proof membrane before the wearing system rather than coating over the problem.

For heavy MHE and pallet traffic we normally specify epoxy high build or epoxy self-levelling; for wet process, kitchens and food units, a polyurethane HF screed; and where a unit cannot lose more than a day, an MMA system that takes traffic within a couple of hours of the final coat. Line marking, safety demarcation and anti-slip zones are installed as part of the same visit.

Congestion Charge, ULEZ and delivery-window constraints are priced into the quotation, not added afterwards, and our teams are used to working to building-management access rules, permit-to-work systems and out-of-hours noise restrictions.
